About the ILCU

The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) is the leading representative organisation for credit unions across the island of Ireland. Founded on the principles of cooperation, mutual support and financial inclusion, the ILCU works to strengthen and advance the credit union movement through advocacy, leadership, collaboration and the delivery of services that support growth, resilience and long-term sustainability.

The ILCU represents and supports more than 230 affiliated credit unions in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, serving millions of members and communities nationwide. As the voice of the credit union movement, the ILCU engages with government, regulators, policymakers and key stakeholders to promote an operating environment that enables credit unions to thrive while continuing to meet the evolving needs of their members.

In addition to its representative role, the ILCU provides a wide range of supports and services to affiliated credit unions, including education and training, marketing and communications support, business development initiatives, governance guidance, and sector-wide research and insights. Through these services, the ILCU helps credit unions remain competitive, innovative and relevant in an increasingly complex financial services landscape.

Membership of the ILCU is open to every credit union in Ireland.
